Show Your Love/Hearts to Squigglefly this week!

The challenge this week is Have A Heart, Please! Please use a heart on your card somewhere.  This could be a heart inside your image, a heart embellishment, diecut hearts, heart printed ribbon, heart paper, heart brad, or even a heart shaped card! Show us your hearts.  You are welcome to  make a Valentine, but as the Hobbyists show you in their examples, you don't have to have a Valentine theme. We'd love for you to use a Squigglefly image, to be prize eligible it's required, but everyone is welcome to play along.

For this Challenge, I used a Pammie Lehto image called Will You Bee Mine? Isn't it just perfect for Valentine's Day?  I've had this 2-sided paper I've been wanting to use with some of her Bee images called "Bee's Knees" by Echo Park; so on the inside I used the opposite side with blue background and bees flying all around and added a yellow Top Note insert for sentiment.
Remember this coming weekend, there will be a new release of images in the Squigglefly Shop so check them out.  There's lots of Valentine images and sentiments already and, who knows, there may be more with the release!!  Come play along with us and win an image if your entry is chosen!

Robyn's Fetish Sponsoring Seems a Little Sketchy-5 Digi images free

This week at Seems a Little Sketchy we are featuring images from Robyns Fetish Digital Stamps and I chose this adorable Snowman!  Although I am SOOO sick of snow this January, he was too cute to pass up.  This is the sketch we used for the challenge but I did turn the image so that it fit my over-sized character better.
I used a 6x6 dotted swiss Bazzill cardstock for my base, then for the mats on my snow flurry paper and the Big Guy, I used wonderful metallic cardstocks by The Paper Cut-the colors are Ice Silver and Blue Mirricard, a gorgeous deep toned blue shiny metallic.  While I used these as shimmery accents and you can only see a slip of them, I can't wait to show them off more in the future.  The snowy diecut is called Frostyville by Memory Box, one of favorites.  Thanks for joining in on the Fun Challenge that will run for 2 weeks-plenty of time to get your project done.  Robyn is offering 5 digi images to the winner!

Love Theme is the newest Hambo Challenge at the Hoedown!

Hambo's challenge for Hoedown #142 is to create a project with a LOVE theme - sentiments or images that show love (thinking more romantic love here than a child/parent love.) Your image could be totally random but tie it in with a sentiment, or vice versa.

Since I'm trying to rest my "tweaked" knee, I can still find some time to color up some fun images from Hambo for the contest!  This image is called Snow Heart and is a favorite of mine. I love combining kraft paper and Anything! This image comes with several sentiments, 2 of which I used here.  I used a snowflake punch in the corner thinking I'd like it to go all the way through.  But instead, decided to back the punch with some more kraft. That's where I placed my handmade stamp.  I used the remaining white punch as an accent under the sentiment. Thanks for looking and have fun playing!

Recuperating doing Cards for Squigglefly-Thinking of You

Well while I am at home favoring my hurt knee, I'm trying to do some cards!  This one is a Thinking of You card using a couple of images from artist Pam Lehto.  I combined Country Boy & Country Girl, added an accordion flower from a friend and a double matted TOU sentiment inside the card.  Check out all the new artists online at the Squigglefly Shop found here. And the first weekend of each month, they debut some new images and new artist's so be sure and check them out!

Clean & Simple at Squigglefly Challenge

While I find it a little hard to do a CAS card, I can say I was extremely happy that here at Squigglefly this week, that was the challenge.  With a bummed up knee and in extreme pain, I was thrilled to use the digi stamp from a group of images called Snail Mail Max by Cheryl Alger.  This talented artist is just one of MANY artists featured at Squigglefly.  We are so lucky to get to use them!  This is actually the postage stamp in the set.  I blew it up, used copics on the coloring and then stickles on the background.  Found these gorgeous bumpy, sparkly, gem-like buttons at HL in the sewing dept. made by sew-ology.  They come in deep red and this delicate pink and in 2 sizes.  I just cut off the plastic shank on the back and used a zot to attach. Was so happy to find these!  Can't wait to use them on some Valentine's Day images that are coming up.  Come and join us for the challenge this week-if you make an entry using a SF image, you could win a digital image of your choice.  Thanks for looking!

It's Anything Goes this week at Squigglefly!

I just wanted to share a card for one of my favorite sites-Squigglefly!  I often make cards that don't fit the "challenge" for the week but I love the images so much I use them for my everyday cards.  It just so happens that this week, our other team Holley Hobbyists, is running a challenge-ANYTHING GOES! so it's perfect for that!!  I LOVE this image from one of their talented artists, Inger Harding, called Old Fashioned Skates.   I did a "twist" on this image-instead of stamping on the tag, I colored it and then cut out the center all the way through to the inside of the card.  Taking a small stamp, I centered it under the opening and then went stamping mad all over the inside!!  I LOVE the way this turned out-I need to find other images that I can do this to again!! So gals put your thinking caps on and come join us in the fun this week.  If you win using a SF image, you get to find an image in the shop for your library--so cool!

Ladybug Crafts Ink-a NEW sponsor for Southern Girls Challenge!

Welcome to our very first challenge of 2014 here at Southern Girls Challenge! :)  Welcome back to our regulars and also any newbies that might be joining us for the first time.  Christmas has flown by and now it is all about fresh starts and new beginnings so for our challenge for this brand spanking New Year we want to see a celebration of new things, New Baby, Newly Weds, new pressies or just using new stash.

How "FUNNY" that my NEW thing is a NEW COLD!!!!  Should have been expecting it what with the sub-zero weather for the last 2 weeks and then it was 52 (1) day this week!  Yikes-Everyone has colds!!! So this image called Unwell Nikki that I got from our Newest Sponsor, Ladybug Crafts Ink, is PERFECT!!  In keeping with the angled bed she used in order to get the perspective on the bed, I decided to angle the layout also.  Since she is so "modern", I used some glossy, glittered embossed geometric paper as the base. A simple Get Well stamp, some puffy satin floral flower trim and some complimentary buttons finish the card.  I'm always needing get well cards so what a great opportunity.  Thanks for looking and come join us for the next 2 weeks showing what's NEW for YOU in 2014 and you too could be a winner of some digis from our 2 sponsors!!
