New Images coming to Squigglefly AND the Challenge for this week-Piece it OR Pierce it!

I'm so excited to know that this Saturday, the 3rd, Squigglefly is revealing some new images and Artists for us to all ooo and awww over.  How exciting that they do this every first Saturday of each month!  I'm very happy to give you a sneak peak at the image called Home-by Judith Hart which you will find at the Squigglefly on-line shop .  I just love this cheery home image and the easel scene that I created with it.

It goes to show you that you shouldn't ditch any of the card blanks that you make-I had started this "framework" easel card months and months ago and because I loved all the colors in it, kept it in my stash.  You know you just are waiting for JUST the right image to use!  Then along came Judith's rendering..I fancy cut the image on the grassy area so that it would fit through the circle die cut and, so that I would be able to use it in the Challenge on Squigglefly, I "pierced" the card with a glitter circle brad that I used as the SUN-the "rays being a large prima flower!  What FUN!  Then I carried that onto the inside where I created a field of flowers with brads and primas.  Thanks for looking!

Southern Girls Has Announced their New Design Teams

It's almost been a year since The Southern Girls have had an Open DT Call so they felt it was time to see some new styles, methods and designs.  They had an overwhelming International participation and so many entries to choose from.  They are finally announcing the Gals that will make up the 2 alternating teams that every two weeks demonstrate unique ideas as hopefully some inspiration for their followers.

Thankfully, I was one of the lucky Gals and will be staying on Team Lou for another Term.  I'm SO happy to be here representing such a great group.  We're friends as well as Scrapping Buds and have loads of fun while doing it.  Our Sponsors are nationally known, are generous to us, and offer up wonder images for us to use to showcase their sites.  We can't thank them enough!

If creating for such a great organization appeals to you, watch for the next DT call in 6 months and maybe you will will be a Southern Girl also!  Hope you become a follower of my Blog and catch all the news in all my DT groups of what's happening in the Scrapping World!  Thanks for visiting!

Color Challenge Now at Squigglefly! Either Baby blue OR Baby Pink~~

I'm always in need of Birthday cards and this was a great opportunity to use the newest image from one of our Squigglefly artists, Pammie Lehto.  It's called appropriately enough, Pam's Fancy Rose.

This week is a color Challenge and you can use either baby blue or baby pink.  Well pink is my fav color so of COURSE....  After coloring it up with Copics, I lifted it with foam dots.  Placed the sheer loopy ribbon on the matted paper before attaching it to the card base.  I really like the look of the pearl strands passing through the loop of the bow!  I love the girly feel of the flourished Happy Birthday that I stamped from my stash.  The inside has the same floral paper with a loopy die cut for an inscription for the luck recipient.
Please join us in all the fun at Squigglefly this week!  IF you use a Squigglefly image then you could win 1 free digital image of your choice and there are SO many to choose from and so many talented artists!  It will be hard to pick just one!  If you don't have a SF image, there are several freebies for you to pick from!  See you there!

Bugaboo challenge on Seems a Little Sketchy-Christmas for Me!

It's Christmas in July for me this week!  At Seems a Little Sketchy, I chose the digital image from Bugaboo Stamps called Christmas Sheep.  I adore this image and had a blast coloring them with copics and Stickles.

The great thing about our terrific sponsor this go around is that the winner of the Challenge will win 7 images of their choice!!!  WOW!

We always use a Sketch to follow and this one works so well with whatever size base you use!  With my card I found a glittered snowflake patterned paper, lime green velvet, some flourishes, felt Christmas tree and a iridescent chipboard snowflake accent.  The sentiment is from a SU set that I had in my stash.

Emboss Me at Squigglefly this week!

This week's challenge is SFC2813 Emboss Me!

Squigglefly wants you to add something embossed to your card, it can be any of the wonderful backgrounds that create embossing, any of the spellbinders die cuts that have embossing, any brass stencils that use dry embossing, or add a great embellishment or cardstock that already comes embossed.

It is definitely the "DOG DAYS of SUMMER" here in the Mid-West.  I guess I find as I get a little older, I can't tolerate the Humidity. Thank goodness we have huge old maple trees around the house and good ceiling fans to stir the air!!  Well, with that thought in my head, I chose this neat image from Fawn Palmer called A Lap Dog.  We have a boxer and she is JUST like this picture-as big as she is, she doesn't know that she's not a lap dog-yep, climbs right up there and snuggles down.  I think I must have this look on my face ...as I struggle for AIR!  I used a great embossed cream cardstock that I actually got in a paper swap from a scrapbooking Board on Yahoo that I belong to.  It's called Scrapbook Place.  Check it out if you have some time!
Hopefully this heat wave will soon end-Wish you all a Popsicle to munch on and a cold shower to cool you off.  Thanks for looking! Carolyn

Squigglefly 'Shy Bear' Tribute Blog Hop-this one's for You Melissa~

Thank you for joining us for the Squigglefly 'Shy Bears' Blog Hop. This hop is dedicated to Melissa Chettle and her son Justin. Melissa was a friend of Squigglefly Design Team member Charlene. She died very unexpectedly at the end of June, at 43 years young!

At the end of April, Melissa asked Charlene to make her a bunch of Shy Bears cards - any image, any theme, any colors . . . just Shy Bears because she loved them all! (In case you're not familiar with them, Shy Bears http://www.squigglefly.com/index.php/shop/category/17 are a creation of Lynne Stansbery's, a fabulous artist at Squigglefly. There is a whole section in the store, with so many fun images!)

Melissa didn't get the chance to see the cards that Charlene made but we wanted to support Charlene in her request to dedicate this hop to Melissa. Melissa, here's to you . . . R.I.P.

Charlene has listed more info about Melissa on her personal post. Please visit all the blogs and be sure to leave a comment. One lucky winner will receive 3 free images of their choice.  The WINNER of the blog hop will be announced MONDAY morning at the same time as the winner for the weekly Squigglefly challenge.  Please leave your email addresses in your comments so we can reach you for the prizes!

The Image I used is called Shy Bear Broken Heart-He's mounted with foam dots on top of a soft flowered background.  With a ribbon and faceted accent it's striking.  I added a thoughtful sentiment to the inside for the family. If you've come here from Debbie's super creation, you're on the right track!  Now on to your next stop, our fearless leader Holly.  Be prepared to be amazed!

No Spooled Items Challenge at Southern Girls Challenge!

At first I panicked at the thought of not using Ribbon, or Baker's Twine, or other such "Spooled Items" on my card entry at Southern Girls Challenge.  These are some of my favorite Embellishments but then I got inspired to use some different size flower punches, buttons as my accents!
In keeping with the July Patriotic theme, I used a vintage looking flag background.  The deep red mat behind the sweet Image has all kinds of patriotic sayings on it.  I roughed up the edges of the mat with a new toy for me-a Tim Holtz distressing tool. The Image I used this time was "Mommy's Little Helper" from D'arcys Diaries.  She has the most amazing digis!
The Sponsors for this 2 Week challenge are The Scrapbook Store, Papervine, and MARIANNE DESIGN.  They have some Wonderful prizes in store for the winner so be sure to join us in the fun!  We'll see you there!  Carolyn

Thank you-Thank You-Thank You! Holly, it's your time at Squigglefly~

I'm very pleased to Showcase my DT entry for this week's Challenge at Squigglefly!  Often times we let the opportunity go by in life to say Thank you to a Family member...a Friend...a fellow worker...a stranger that has done us or someone else a good deed.  I've always felt that we just need a little more KINDNESS in our World to make everything "Right".  Maybe joining us this week in our Thank You Card contest would be the first start for you!  THEN, when you're done making it, you could send it off to someone who may or may not know that they made a difference in your life!  What a wonderful thought!  Like Paying it Forward~ That's how I feel about our leader here at Squigglefly, Holly.  She does so much for all of us and makes us feel so welcome in her "Family".  I'm so glad that I'm part of her great group of gals and she makes me feel Blessed every day.
For my card this week, I used a soft vintage feel flowered background print-I love these colors!  One of the images at Squigglefly lately has been "Big Bear Heart" by Cheryl Alger.  I COULDN'T resist making this lovable bear into a Wobble image.  I'm always tempted to take a picture showing the blur of the Wobble but just figure everyone would just think I'd taken a horrible picture. From my stash, I stamped a sentiment and then threaded a grosgrain ribbon through the punched slots.  The inside has a rose pink renaissance die cut with a sentiment attached.
Come have some fun with us, get a chance to win a digital image and in the end, have a card to share your thoughts with someone in your life!  I'd like to enter this card in the "Show Me Thursday" challenge Blog that Cheryl Alger promotes- it's a great chance to randomly be chosen to win one of her great digis.  Thanks for looking!  Carolyn

It's Purple People Eater Time at Squigglefly's Newest Challenge

The challenge by Squigglefly's Holley's Hobbyists is to simply create a purple theme card, it's that easy.  You can color your image however you like.  You can use other colors, but please use a lot of purple(s) on there somewhere.  The reward for the winner is a free digi from our great group of artists!

I used a background paper that has what I believe to be purple violets and I think they're so pretty!  The image I used was called Kittys by Diane Carubia- don't they make a cute Birthday card?!!  I matted the image and then used foam dots to mount it.  I have loved using this neat trick to make a flat "bow" on my cards from my SF team mate, Linda.  You take 1 long length of ribbon, loosely knot that length.  You then take a short piece of ribbon, insert it into the loose knot evenly, then tighten up the knot.  It lays flat, and will stay even with the ribbon or you can offset it like I did for interest.  On this card, I cut a circle mat for my sentiment, punched an eyelet through it and tied it off with fuzzy fiber.
We hope you will join us for the fun on the Squigglefly site and get a chance to win a digital image!
